For a brief moment, I managed to hit 5ER. The big moment was swapping from Tanks/Critter Cannons to Incinerators. The difference is quite significant because of Incinerators speed compared to the much slower Tanks. So I have started to get ranks again and even hit a precious Rank 15, although I immediately lost my next battle.
But with the Rank 15 chest and not fizzling in the follow up battle, I managed to unlock the precious Troop Damage and max it out as well as Building Damage and getting it to Rank 4. After that, I plan to invest my keys into a Doom Cannon and start farming keys for 6ER. As well as the Building Health node. I suspect that 6ER is going to be really rough and even harder still in trying to set my base up since that’s just one more Engine Room that I will have to deal with.
That said, my current base is causing some attacks to fizzle. Since I have obtain the Building Damage node, there might be more fizzling in the near future. I think what will help after I get the Doom Cannon is Rank 5 Rocket Launchers. There’s no doubt that will be the node I need most before heading into 6ER. The 4th Rocket Launcher with the Building Damage node should knock out Zookas and Riflemen.
What I’m still waiting to see here are Seekers. So far half of the attacks are some form of Heavy Zooka along with Kavan using Second Wind. And I’m sure they’re getting through because I didn’t have Building Damage until now. But once that’s maxed out, I should be able to one shot Zookas with stuff like Mortars, which have only taken down Zookas with an abysmal two shots so all this should change very soon.
Also, I’m waiting to see Incinerators come into play. I think players hitting me are either not at the Incinerator node or don’t want to invest into them. But for me at least I see them as a great alternative to what I was playing before. The one issue is that their reserve is small and that they die out occasionally because of their self-immolation, which is weird when you think about it. So for that I’ve got Kavan with Second Wind to bring them back at clutch moments while giving myself some riflemen for the boost.
But I hope that I should start seeing more frequent victories with my current setup. I’m aiming for Gold at least before the season is over. That should really be a huge boon as keys are hard to come by and every single one counts especially as I try to get into 6ER.
