Boom Beach: HQ25 Week 2 Progress

Week 2 is coming to a close, later tonight we’ll see a new rotation of prototypes and where am I now. I figured with this coming week, I’ll be blogging a lot less on Boob Beach since the upgrades will be infrequent compared to the initial first week but I did make good progress on a Sunday just before the next Mega Crab weekend, so I figured why not.

I started off with my main account, as usual, ripped through the first five stages of Dr T’s Volcano Island before destroying NPC bases around the map and doing my operations attack. Today’s operations was a little more difficult having to deal with 9 Rocket Launchers and quite a few Boom Cannons and a Shock Launcher. I don’t care what the high end operations player say, when you’re just running two accounts and stockpile your Intel, you can do whatever the fuck you want with it, including Sabotage because making life easier is important.

The last two stages of Dr T weren’t too bad. Managed to clear them on both accounts. For my main account, I was short of upgrading my Rocket Launcher to level 15 so finally I began opening up my Trader Tickets. I hit a few nice, juicy crates which gave me enough resources to start the upgrade. Ended up still having over 60 tickets left and decided to keep them until another week. I probably could have hit a few more juicy crates but the risk-to-reward ratio didn’t feel worth it along with requiring more Diamonds to instant complete my level 15. So I’ll wait and see when the next opportunity arises.

Also, I started the Heavy level 25 upgrade on my main account with all the gold I’ve accumulated. That one felt pretty nice because if Heavy Choppa makes another round, I’ll be ready for them. The rest of the upgrades aren’t as important like mines but I might make those my next targets, although instinct tells me to go either Medkit or Zookas just to get the most expensive out of the way.

For my secondary account, I lost two Bombardiers on land mines during my operations attack. Again, with the All Troop Mania cost reduction, it only took 2 Diamonds to instantly restore them. Otherwise, I would have been severely pissed. After doing my clears, I easily started a Rocket Launcher level 13 and Sgt. Brick level 24. I pondered using my Building Plans to finish up the Rocket Launcher and realized that it probably would be a waste since we still are waiting for the much rumored 2nd or 3rd update to include the Weapon Lab upgrade. Instead, I probably will just use the rest of the week to build up my resources on that account for the level 14 upgrade and wait until the update drops.

By the same token, I figured to wait some more on opening up my Trader Tickets on that account. Again, I could have finished up the upgrade with my Building Plan but it felt unnecessary at this stage. Also, I really prefer to use those Trader Tickets when I’m on the borderline of having the resources that I need rather than scrounging up enough to make an upgrade. It does delay the possibility of upgrading my Heroes on either account from higher level abilities but I already have the main ones I need at this point.

Unfortunately, with the timing of both Rocket Launcher upgrades, I won’t be seeing them used tomorrow during Hammerman Strikes back. I do anticipate a heavier than usual Hammerman Strikes back event but my bases are reasonably built up with twin Hot Pots so I should be okay. I just am waiting for the prototype switchover to see what I can build for that 3rd slot.

Overall, I’m trying to be as judicious as possible in terms of utilizing my resources. My main account has been getting pulverized daily and I now realize it’s due to the VP I’m at. So in that sense, it’s better that I reserve my resources for now and not rush anymore upgrades until that Weapon Lab upgrade comes out. I still doubt that will make a huge difference except in case where I can use a Grappler to really annoy Tanks and Bombardiers.  But I don’t mind others beating me as I want to lower my VP on that account anyway to get easier bases for Fridays.

Also, no word still on that next update. The only update we’ve had is a bug fix one that dropped last week. I’m hoping that isn’t part of the anticipated 3 part update group because what will be left besides the Weapon Lab update?
