Clash of Clans TH11 and TH10 Is Back!

Well, my iPad finally came in yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. I  had a great deal of fears going in such as reading negative reviews off of Amazon since this is a “renewed” product. It was already charged up to roughly 90% and came with a simple power Lightning charger (which kinda sucks because I would have preferred a USB3.0 one). And that was just for the iPad. Of course, my real fear was moving from my old iPad to the new one. Luckily, everything worked out since I had my game loaded from my Game Center and had established a Supercell ID ahead of time for Boom Beach on my iPad.

I did connect my Clash of Clans account on this iPad to my Supercell account so I got some nice gems for that. Also, they made me battle my own base to “ensure that it was me”. Pretty silly concept but the good thing is that my extended absence started me off with a ton of resources in addition to a full day of a shield and boost for training.

I did pick up the 5th Builder as well as the Gold Season Pass just to play some catch up. But the big thing was getting the ability to donate troops again. With two accounts active, I’m able to do some of the season achievements which is helping to accelerate my season progress.

Something I also learned was that my base wasn’t in that bad of shape. Since I had too much resources, I started an upgrade of my 2nd Inferno Tower as well as some other lower defenses. My Laboratory was in reasonable shape too. Probably, the only thing I needed to do was get certain troops like Barbarians ranked up as I didn’t realize that their Laboratory level affects the Barbarian King’s special ability (or rather that was beforehand). So that’s going to be a big goal soon.

Also, I used one of the web layouts since I had been too lazy setting up my base. I’m so glad for that because I had using the layout editor especially when it comes to Walls. That pretty much is a godsend as a feature. But it also should demonstrate why Walls are the worst possible feature in a game on the flip side.

So now, I’m probably going to use this season rejuvenating my base. I won’t push into TH11 just yet because there are a ton of little defenses like Cannons and Archer Towers that require a few levels in upgrades. Also, I want to get enough Walls upgraded where I won’t be too far behind. Maybe say level 9 or so would be a good general spot once the majority of my base is upgraded.

Now, for the painful part: the Builder Base. This one is just like twisting ones arm because of having to go through the entire experience again with the OTTO Hut, etc. I left it at level 8 so it’s not horribly painful to catch up but getting that Battle Machine back to where it’s usable, doing the Tesla Tower grind and worrying about Cannon Carts….it all makes me shudder. Unfortunately, this also discourages me from completing the Versus seasonal achievements but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I am being pretty aggressive attack-wise on that account. I managed to get into Crystal II league and am trying to grab as many achievements as possible for the season so I can do things like unlock the training and building boosts. I swear with the addition of seasons the game feels so much different in having a more focused feeling.

My current strategy is using all Dragons for my attacks. I was doing Electro Dragon donations but I think those aren’t that great. The biggest issue is that they die too easily and are very base dependent. So I’m going to switch in trying to toss in a Lava Hound instead to see if that helps in alleviating the pain of dealing with air defenses.

On my “main” account, I hit the 1000 gem bonus from my victories from Versus battles. That was super cool because I was down to 200 gems or so. I’m at the point where I don’t know if I want to continue grinding on Versus battles or just wait for the last leg of the seasonal achievements come out.

Also, I got my Earthquake spell to max level on that account and started the level 2 Bat spell upgrade. I used my Book of Spells to instant complete the Earthquake spell, which felt worth it. That means in the future, I can donate that to my lower level account. I might use that for something like Golems + Bowlers + Witches. Before I can do that, I’ll need to upgrade all those troops.

I did get the Rune of Elixir too. My plan is to wait until the Grand Warden finishes the upgrade. Hopefully, by then I can obtain the Book of Heroes from the season rewards. Then I’ll spend some time grinding out Elixir (and de-ranking myself by Goblins) to push my Grand Warden to level 19, use the Book of Heroes to instant complete him then use the Rune of Elixir and start the last level for him in TH11. After that, all my Elixir will be dedicated to finishing up troop and spell upgrades.

There is a temptation to push my TH to 12 once the season ends. But I almost feel that’ll be a big waste just because of the amount of upgrades left. Too many traps and small defenses that still require a few levels remain. That’s in addition to the huge number of Walls that are just lying around.

Either way, I had a pretty fun day yesterday. Since I’ve learned a lot in terms of how to improve my strategies, I can see and feel the difference. I still have some ways to go but I’m in a much better place than a few months ago.
