Boom Beach HQ25 Update 3/3 Is Here!

While today only is a Gearheart base day, the real chunk of excitement goes to the last of the HQ25 3/3 update. As a tank player, this is a pretty big update for me and probably one of the more relevant ones in terms of what I need especially with the Mega Crab event starting from tonight.

The update had a small splash message upon loading up the game which seemed strange. It almost implied that the region would get larger but without the radar upgrade, the map stays the same. Instead, I think it’s meant to imply how all the defenses now will be in full force in terms of levels especially with Shock Launchers and Rocket Launchers receiving their own upgrades.

Of course, the biggest part of this update is the Weapon Lab. However, it is gaining two levels. The first level doesn’t seem to provide a bonus for anything outside of building health. But the 2nd upgrade level will be for the +1 prototype defense. With the Mega Crab weekend, pretty much I’m going to push for the full upgrade on both accounts. The first upgrade doesn’t seem too expensive but I think the second one will be.

While it is nice that this update comes just before the Mega Crab, it does also provide an inconvenience as I had been using the Mega Crabs to upgrade my Landing Craft. On the other hand, the next level of Landing Craft for me with my troop types won’t be very useful. It’s more like a task that I need to eventually get done and do not want to procrastinate too long on it.

On the bright side, both accounts had enough gold for upgrading my tanks. Honestly, the cost for tank upgrades to level 20 wasn’t too bad compared to Scorchers or the others. But right now I think my aim will be to garner up enough Gold for Everspark for tomorrow then rush the tanks if I get near completion on Sunday so I can put the rest of my Gold into Critters. I doubt the +1 levels to these upgrades are going to make a huge difference for this particular Mega Crab event. And this will also help me save on Diamonds a bit.

I’m certain I should be able to get the Weapon Lab upgraded before Monday or at least get it into a state where I’ve started the max level one. From there, I’ll focus on Rocket Launchers, as they’re quite expensive, followed by Shock Launchers, which aren’t that bad. I did manage to start my 1st max level Flamethrower on my main account the other day and at least all my Boom Cannons have been completed. So I think I’m going on Hammerman Strikes Back days for now. Also, I just started some Shock Blasters that I will set down before starting the upgrades to my Weapon Labs. That way, I have at least three prototype defenses for Monday in case I’m empty on Diamonds for rushing.

One thing I ended up doing is full boosting my Resource tribes. While the resource collectors on my base itself are pretty useless, I figured that the +50% boost would be great for my island resource collectors. Also, on my main account today, I landed a +20% Resource Reward statue which I’ll probably use in place for the +14% Troop Health Statue. I’m still very reluctant about getting rid of my two Ice statues, although I now have two new Masterpieces that are not at the same level. I think if I can manage a second +20% RR statue, I might get rid of both Ice Statues to go full offense, which should nearly double my ability to collect, especially on Imitation Game days, which should make upgrading my base a lot easier.

At any rate, I think I’m in a pretty decent position on both accounts. I think the staggered release has been interesting in not overwhelming players with too much all at once. I’ve seen a few accounts that already had maxed out their bases but I kept thinking “why?” I feel those types of players don’t really get to enjoy the game that much. Also, I’ve seen their VP so they must be boosting and map clearing almost daily.

For myself, I’m mostly doing 1-2 upgrades a week. The Boom Cannons were pretty nasty as were the Landing Craft. But I think once I convert some of my statues to more +20% RR types, I should be pretty consistent in receiving those upgrades every week. I might even go 3 +20% RR statues if I mange to craft enough and that should really help push my base a bit faster.
