Clash of Clans: Finally Into TH13

I decided to say fuck it and just push my main account to TH13 today. The upgrades were getting boring and mostly had Cannons, Traps and a few Archer Towers besides the insipid Walls to upgrade in terms of defenses and way too many levels to work on for my Barbarian King. The whole “don’t upgrade until everything is upgraded mentality” I think is an old school mentality that no longer works because of the re-worked reward system. But more on those things in a bit.

Probably, the biggest thing I looked forward to the most by getting TH13 was my Royal Champion. Already, I started upgrading her to level 2 and will probably continue to push her for a few days until she’s at least level 5 to enable her ability. Also, I had upgraded my Workshop to level 4, which allows me to get the Siege Barracks, which I also have started to upgrade in my Laboratory to level 2.

Now, while some people may argue that I should have upgraded my Laboratory first, the thing is that I wouldn’t be able to make use of anything within for at least two weeks whereas I can immediately start using a Siege Barracks. Not to mention, I would no longer be able to produce Stone Slammers in the short term. So the Laboratory will be the next major upgrade with regards to Elixir when it’s available (have to wait until the level 2 Siege Barracks is done) but I’m not blocked in my training for the time being.

Next, I’m going to have available at least one Scattershot, which I can begin today once I get 12m in Gold. The choice is either a Scattershot or upgrading my Clan Castle. Right now, I’m leaning towards the Scattershot just to get another major defense built. It’s still going to take a whopping 12 days and should make for a great addition whereas my Clan Castle will only provide another +5 Housing Spaces, which would most likely go towards another Balloon. My thought is to at least place all the stuff I can build down immediately then upgrade the next big stuff as my Builders become available (and thankfully both Town Halls now have 6 builders)

Speaking of my other Town Hall/account, I also had pushed that one up a level to TH12. Already, I have upgraded the Giga Tesla to max, two Inferno Towers to max, the Clan Castle, Eagle Artillery, most of the resource storage units (still need one last Gold Storage) and some key troops like my Dragons such that I can use Super Dragons as my primary offense. I’m also working on Ice Golems so that I can plan on doing some IcyG/Witch combos as my Witches are maxed out too. Now, that combo will be effective once I get my Workshop on my main account upgraded to level 5.

In the meantime, my secondary account does have a Workshop at level 2 and I’m going to make a big push to get it to level 3 just to unlock the Stone Slammer. That way, I have at least one account capable of producing Stone Slammers once I gather enough resources to begin upgrading my Laboratory on my main account.

The nice thing though about the timing of all these Town Hall upgrades is that I have the 20% Builder bonus from the Seasonal Pass. That should make the next two weeks of upgrades less pain for a short while.

But going back to my main account, one thing that I need to start pushing big time is upgrading my resource storage units to take full advantage of the Gold and Dark Elixir runes I have. Most likely, I won’t be able to finish those soon enough but once this season’s pass ends, the first two weeks will be painful in terms of cost. So I need that extra buffer.

On the positive side, once the Season ends and we get the rewards from the Seasonal Bank, I should have enough to get some major upgrades started, regardless of the actual cost. I think one of the bigger slogs will be the Archer Queen so she’ll have a high priority initially to get her to level 75. My current plan is to use her for a Queen Walk/Hybrid using Hogs and Miners. That’s a huge reason I was so insistent on getting the Siege Barracks. If Super Dragons weren’t nerfed so hard recently, I might still have confidence in them but the nerfs they’ve received have made them pretty shoddy. But at least getting the Siege Barracks will allow me to run both accounts doing the Queen Walk/Hybrid.

One nice thing I’ve noticed about TH13 is that Wizards and PEKKAs will be maxed out once you upgrade them from Laboratory level 11. Also, Barbarians and Archers do not receive another level from this TH13’s laboratory. So that should save some gold in the near term future once I get those things setup. Same thing with the Healing spell, where I’ve managed to save one last Book of Spells just for that.

However, the costly upgrades will be coming from Miners and Hog Riders. I’ll probably still initially target my Dragons once the Laboratory gets upgraded. But I’m thinking about two accounts when it comes to that Siege Barracks at the moment.

Of course, the thing I really want is the Log Launcher. That’s quite a ways away just because of cost and time. But I feel that my IcyG/Witch/Bowler attacks have been bad due to not having one. I’ve seen how the Log Launcher can take out Inferno Towers from the distance in the right setup whereas the Wall Wrecker ends up just getting wrecked and leaving my troops to spend fruitless time trying to hack down thick Walls. So I think once I get the Log Launcher, I’m going to give IcyG/Witch/Bowler another shot because I’m going to need a ton of Elixir to upgrade my Grand Warden and other key troops. Also, I can’t keep spending Dark Elixir to boost my Dragons to Super Dragons especially on my main account since I have the Champion to worry about now.

At any rate, I’m pretty excited to give these things a try once all these upgrades are in place. I’ve been wanting to try the Queen Walk/Hybrid for a very long time but didn’t feel confident enough with a Battle Blimp + Yeti/Invisibility spell combo to do just right. Getting the Siege Barracks seems like the right move to utilizing a non-dragon attack and hopefully will be fun.
