Clash of Clans: TH12 Super Dragons Are Awesome!

I  haven’t been blogging much just because of lack of time. But I did manage to hit a major milestone by getting my main account into Champion III league for the first time and thus obtaining the 2k Gem reward. With that I was able to finish up my Dragon upgrade for that level 7, which allowed me to use Super Dragons. As there’s an event going on with the reward of 10 Wall Rings, I had extra motivation to get through this.

So far, I’ve only used Super Dragons in two different scenarios. The bases in this league are much rougher, more “professional” compared to the lower leagues so I have to be judicious in selecting the right one for battle. The combination I’m finding effective is 8 Ballons, 5 Super Dragons and 2 normal Dragons with 11 Lightning Spells along with the Stone Slammer as my siege machine of choice. For my castle clan troops, I’m using 4 more Balloons, 1 normal Dragon, a Lightning spell and a maxed out Earthquake spell.

What I look for in bases is the four air defenses clustered tightly near Air Sweepers. If they’re in a bunch of defenses, I can Lightning them down and use the Earthquake to damage stuff like an Inferno Tower. So far this combo has been giving me 3 stars but I need to hit slightly harder bases.

The nice thing is that at Champion league, the bonus loot tends to be pretty nice. So even with a moderately filled base you can make some decent loot. My goal right now is to get at least 8 more wins for the Wall Ring bonus then possibly switch to something like Sneaky Goblins for filling up my Season bank and doing an expensive upgrade. But with all these victories thus far, Sneaky Goblins might not be worth the effort.

Up until now, I’ve been using Icy Golems with Witches and Lightning Spells. But in Champion league, this combo is really hit and miss. What I’ve discovered is that the Walls can really put a stinker on an attack because Witches end up circling around the outside and taking nasty splash damage. Certainly, at lower levels, this combo is pretty effective but I’m still working on leveling up troops and spells.

I will say that this TH12 progress is painful. The bigger upgrades take nearly two weeks so unless a Book of Building comes by, then you have to twiddle your thumbs and carefully plan your upgrades. On the bright side, most of my Storage units are now upgraded so I can start focusing on defenses. I’m probably going to use my Rune of Dark Elixir and upcoming Book of Heroes (there’s two this season) to get my Archer Queen to level 55 and put another level on my Grand Warden to get him to 23.

That said, I find TH12 to be entertaining. The Siege Weapons are great and I’m licking my lips waiting for the day I can unlock the other three. Super Dragons seem to be the Elixir troop of choice over Electro Dragons if you can unlock them. If I could I would also like to try the Hog Riders + Miners. The only major problem has been that my Hog Riders are severely underleveled and not a priority compared to my other troops and spells in the lab. But I am making nice progress there.

My old account is doing okay too. I’m doing far better on the Builder Base battles compared to my main account. In turn, I managed to score 300 more points from the Season content there. So I’m quite close to getting the new Archer Queen skin. It does suck though that my old account can’t use Super Dragons just yet and I’m forced to miss this event. I did the Ice Wizard event and absolutely hated it. But the extra Book of Spells did feel worth it. At this rate, I feel that base should be close to TH12 in at least two months.

But I am more often than not motivated to play my main account. Super Dragons feel like a fun new toy and I’m enjoying them so far.
