So the plan today was to level up/finish off my Rogue and see if I could craft a Shroud after receiving a tip from DatModz’s channel from a viewer. There were a few key steps to get this working because you need a level 60 and have that character be in Torment 1 to be able to not just craft the mythic but open the box. And you really want your Rogue to be the one to do this since that will prevent unwanted Mythics like the spear from appearing.
Once again, I used my currency to buy the scrolls for leveling up my Rogue’s reputation quickly. The main thing I wanted to double check was what level is required to craft the item from the Blacksmith (most guides don’t mention this btw) and potentially get a few nice pieces of Chaos Armor from the final season quest reward (which apparently you can wear at lower levels). I’m sure that a higher level character could have crafted the mythic but opening the cache still needs to be done on the character that has better chances. After hitting a few Rings of Starless Skies this season, I figured I needed to change things up.
The nice thing about having an alt with the Chaos Armor is that you’ll be pretty decked out, which means leveling is fairly smooth. Obviously, I could have just used the Whisper cache technique as well but I actually wanted to play the Rogue. Also, you might miss out on various recipes if you intend to play such a character seriously as well as knowing how it will function. Finally, you might not have enough gear to start an end game build while a lot of things might be locked like waypoints.
At any rate, I used Heartseeker as my main ability along with Flurry. It felt a little different from other iterations; more like Twisting Blade with Puncture but at range. I really want to try Death Trap and ironically the uniques from the Season mythic cache gave me a lot of the pieces for that build. So I ended up using a few and eventually the Andariel’s Visage to level. When I did the Pit, the only thing I was really missing from the Heartseeker build was ironically a Ring of Starless Skies for better resource management as I used the Shard of Verathiel sword to do more damage. Of course, I totally forgot about the resource cost but managed to conquer a bare minimum T1/10 Pit just to get into T1 to open the mythic cache. And it was certainly worth the effort because I finally received the Shroud of False Death that hit the +All Stats GA that is perfect for my Hydra Sorc.
From there I managed to double crit the All Stats GA which helped bring my Sorc’s Mana Pool to 16k, which translates to 16k life. I don’t use the Serpentine aspect because it’s really sketchy but I can still output very good damage. I’d prefer to remain tanky than have the same sketchiness as other more glass cannon builds this season. But obtaining this item made me really happy. The only other item I’m missing on my Sorc is a Shako. The downside is that I probably only have enough reputation to create one more freebie spark at the moment. So I’d have to grind a lot more to rep to ensure enough sparks for another attempt.
One thing I did manage was unlocking enough chests in Helltides for one of the last seasonal achievements. So I’m missing three more, including a T4 Lilith kill. I had good success against the Beast in Ice but I think for Lilith, I might wait until I get find a Shako. There’s still more optimizations I can do for her gear but that’s going to require some serious effort especially in trying to get a +12 hydra on a good staff.
As for the Rogue, I might get back to her later just like the Barbarian. That said, with the Shroud of False Death, I now have three solid Mythics for building twinks. I am slightly encouraged to do one final character in the form of a Necromancer. If I do, I’ll probably make an attempt to craft the Shako on that one.
Now, I also have been watching the Ball Lightning sorc build and heard very good things. But it does require a Helm of Perdition for the end game build and I don’t know if I’d put the effort to try and craft one of those. Shako is pretty wide spread and my Rogue can use one too.
