Game of Thrones: What Will Euron Greyjoy’s Role be in Season 7?

In season 6, Euron Greyjoy made a pretty quick, but critical impact upon arriving, slaying his brother Balon and later claiming the Iron Islands for himself. As his niece and nephew flee to join Daenerys’ forces, Euron instructs the rest of the Iron Born to construct him a fleet of a thousand ships. From that point, his story ends in the season, leaving him in a peculiar place. What will he do in season 7?

Despite not seeing him for the remainder of season 6, we do get a hint of two things that he is doing: 1) constructing that massive fleet; 2) eventually riding to Daenerys to give her his “big cock.” For someone who is crude and only offers promises, Euron does not really seem to possess much of a threat. Many people have pointed out that the Iron Islands has little natural resources, which is why their culture is that of pillaging the mainland. So that right there presents an immediate dilemma for Euron to build his fleet.

In the second point, now that Yara and Theon have managed to intercept Daenerys and warn her of Euron’s machinations, it would seem that Euron’s proposal of marriage and uniting with Daenerys will fall through. Already, Daenerys has encountered other alpha males who made similar proposals but ended up turning foul against her. So why should Euron be any different?

My guess is that Euron, once he learns of Theon and Yara’s pact with Daenerys will attempt to foil them by joining up with the only remaining power that might consider him an ally: Cersei Lannister. There really isn’t any remaining house capable of providing Euron the muscle he needs for this conquest nor would they want to. I cannot see even Littlefinger at the moment joining with Euron as Littlefinger’s plight seems more about Jon Snow and slowly warping Sansa towards his will. However, Cersei has no allies left in the world as she has completely alienated herself from virtually everyone. The main thing the Lannisters can provide Euron is the material for his fleet, which would work in both parties’ favor since Daenerys is approaching by sea and that the Lannisters are weak in that regard.

Another crucial aspect about Cersei’s current position is that she’s single. Because she no longer is obligated to marry Ser Loras Tyrell, Cersei is free to join up with Euron if an offer is available. I cannot really see the two bonding via marriage but both of them in their madness would make the perfect pairing. The real key for Euron in securing Cersei’s resources is possibly his “big cock.”

While everyone may snicker at that idea, you have to read between the lines of what Euron’s “big cock” really implies. The most obvious answer is Dragonbinder, or the dragon horn. Someone as crazy as Euron is still won’t be making empty threats. Most likely, when Euron finally does encounter Daenerys and her fleet, he’ll reveal his “big cock” and make due with his threat.

Daenerys traveling to Westeros won’t be simply a large epic invasion where the Lannister forces get overwhelmed by this massive, united force. Euron most likely will pose as a large obstacle that can tear apart her fleet or at least damage enough of it to make the final trek to King’s Landing a challenge. No doubt, Euron will probably end up in a watery grave but he’ll cause enough of disruption to put a divide between Daenerys and her dragons, which really is her main ace up her sleeve at this point.
