Japan's ISPs are weaklings just like the government and the rest of this country. Pressure from the recording studios and other traditional media studios means that the Yakuza aren't getting their cut. Now, in the typically infinite stupidity, the Yakuza/traditional media companies are again lowering the progress and intelligence of this country by creating a clog. The whole thing with the US doing/proposing something similar was simply a go-ahead for these non-progressive lapdogs. The Yakz/local government did something similar to Akihabara when the nerds/otaku/geeks were bringing new culture to that area and how the Yakuza/local government were trying to ban street performances because again these assfucks weren't getting their cut (not to mention re-organizing prostitution under the cover of a legalized and non-penetrating thus safe form of "Maid Dates").
This whole situation makes me think back to a YouTube video of George Carlin where he talks about the owners of the US and how the politicians are really nothing more than yes-men to sign off on the bills fronted by the owners of the country and the corporations. People think in Japan that the government has any power, but they don't. They serve absolutely no purpose except to similarly serve the real people in power, which are the mafia and the owners of this country. Unfortunately, like George Carlin had mentioned about education, people are not taught to think critically and thus never question the system here and are completely pacified unless something directly affects them and they can dominate in a given situation. That's how this damn country is run.
It's a crying shame about this too because the network infrastructure is actually quite good in Japan compared to other parts of the world (especially the US). People could actually take advantage of these things, pay low cost for good download rates and actually utilize the infrastructure for something better.
Well, the more I live here, the more I realize that this country is becoming increasingly worthless. It's a real shame that like the US' Disneyland, people fetishize this county's progressive capabilities through illusions of Akihabara, Sony and all these filtered viewpoints. The truth is that this place sucks to live and one of the few benefits of living here is now being thwarted.
