AMD Goes Open Source with Framewave

AMD just announced that they open sourced their AMD Performance Library (APL) called Framewave 1.0.  It's offered on SourceForge for download.  The big sell here is to get the developer community to help improve the framework with their chips.

This is a huge contribution to the Open Source community and might really help the stagnating chip manufacturer.  Right now, AMD is trading at $6.50/share, which is really low considering their brutal past year.  Turning to the Open Source community allows massive contributions without spending additional money from the company in research, QA and development.
