The Day Kayfabe Died

Lance Storm had an interesting blog up a while back where he pinpointed the day kayfabe died for pro-wrestling.  He said that day was the infamous Montreal screwjob.
While certainly the situation didn't help the business in terms of perception (it did help stimulate the WWE for a short run), I don't consider that the true day when wrestling was exposed.  I don't know if Lance Storm remembers an old program called "Fight Back" which had some guy who would talk about bad products and encourage consumers to go after companies.  I distinctly remember one show where the program had hired this independent league's group of wrestlers to demonstrate the basic inner workings of pro-wrestling.  It was so long ago (back in the 80's during Hulkamania's prime) but I think that show put a nasty knife into pro-wrestling's back more than anything.  Around that time I remember talking to friends and even my cousin and discussing how pro-wrestling was "fake."  I never really had cared one way or another because I thought pro-wrestling was colorful, entertaining and had character compared to other sports, which were bland.  Still, I think all leagues should've sued that TV show for damaging the business (not sure what happened afterwards) and that those wrestlers should've been banned from participating in any wrestling event (maybe it did happen because that company never really amounted to anything; not to mention all the boring chants at the time).
