Many people have or will lose their homes because of the dry spell cast over So Cal. However, in my case, the dry spell is literally a blessing in disguise. It means that my mom's home in LA will be safe from rain storms which have been destroying, year-by-year, our roof. I will anticipating a heavy rainy season in LA, but I think I'll have some time bought at least to fix up the roof. Originally, I was saving up to buy a condo. Housing though is still horribly overpriced in Los Angeles and so buying there or in Las Vegas won't make too much sense for me. I would need at least $80k for a Condo in some place like Irvine. At this rate, it'll take me another 2 years before I have that amount (unless I can get an instant pay boost). So instead I'll focus on what I can do NOW. Which is fix up my mom's home. I think the dry spell is a sign of chance. If I can correct that problem, it'll buy me time in the long run to fix other problems. I just need to take things one step at a time.
