In another sword in the gut of freedom, this senator disguised obvious media influence in his desire to penalize copyright infringement even harsher than currently mentioned. Here's a democrat, from Michigan, no less that is a proponent for creating yet another bureaucrat agency aimed at stifling the rights of the individual. They say it's in fairness of creativity and the rights of artists, but who are they to kid? When they say "artists" they only are referring to people like Britney Spears, Metallica, Disney, and other big industries. Small time artists rarely have the money to backup their ability to defend themselves, so it's obvious where the influence is coming from.
First of all, I want this "democrat" (which I say loosely since there's nothing democratic about his position, except only caring about the votes from industries who help finance his campaigns) is from Michigan, in which last I checked had one of the most dangerous cities in the US. A friend of mine described Detroit as being highly comparable to Robocop. So rather than attempting to fix problems of local security, this "democrat" wants to utilize taxpayers' hard earned cash (as always) to help an industry which is already overbloated by their excess lifestyles.
The closest analogy I can think of is how the lords of fiefdoms would fight for their king, but the people would suffer under the rulership, while only a few privileged would receive any benefits.
America truly has lost its way in terms of civil rights and politics. While I do believe that companies like the google, Yahoo's, etc. have made massive headways in improving the conditions of our lives, American politics has horribly suffered in the wake of old companies, run by ancient thinking, lawyers, and greedy top heavy management that impede the progress of people.
Well, this only reifies my belief that once space exploration is privatized and places like Mars are colonized, America will soon become like Britain. They will attempt to remote control the colonies, but the colonies in space, in being afar and on their own turf will win the battle.
To the US: Don't let history repeat. Relinquish your control, reevaluate your history of the foundation principles of America, and prevent another costly war that will eradicate the few good things left in America.
