got a chance to catch this finally. good edition. the show seems a lot more focused. each segment built towards the PPV, attempted to get the wrestlers over, and even focused on building the future stars of the promotion. abyss vs rhino has been done to death but the run-in by Bobby Roode seems to be setting up a fresh match. no spoilers focusing on the advancement of this angle though. however, i wouldn't be surprised to see some match up between these two. that lead to Christian vs Abyss. big match up coming to the next PPV. i don't mind this feud continuing as the previous match was very good. Christian is mostly proving to be a good champion through doing some insane things in the ring. having another insane style brawl with Abyss should further cement him as a solid champion. i see him holding onto the title for about a year then dropping it to Samoa Joe. but at least they're not hot potatoing the title between other wrestlers. Abyss possessing the title, imo, is a way for him to "have" the title despite all the crazy bumps and losses he's taken without actually giving it to him on paper. but it keeps him near the top of the roster. not a bad booking decision. Alex Shelley doing the Kevin Nash interview next week, imo, will reveal that Kevin Nash is the "higher" up over Zbysko. If Nash doesn't wrestle but is kept as an on air character, the situation is not that bad. he would make a decent on air character. The promo with the introduction of the newborn Senshi was good. Hopefully, they'll setup three more vignettes as he's not scheduled to wrestle for the next two weeks. Give some time to build his character up off screen while people digest who he's about that has never seen him. Great addition to the X-Division. The World X-Cup has been great so far. haven't seen Team Mexico yet, but Team Japan has been fun mostly with Minoru Tanaka. i'm hoping to see more of his work with Shelley. Mid-May through June should be neat when Liger comes down. Samoa Joe vs Jay Lethal was cool. Newcomer tries to keep up but get his ass kicked in the end. Jay is young and has a very bright future ahead of him. He can take the losses as he improves and gets more screen time. Joe is just great. The last segment wasn't as bad as some people made it to be. It's basically a hook in that goes between shows. The confrontation between Joe and Steiner is definitely a clue, but foreshadowing isn't necessarily a bad thing. Down the line it could be that Steiner vs Joe is a dream match of sorts. Of course, seeing where this leads Joe is the real question. He's obviously the future of TNA. He can wrestle, has a good following, delivers decent promos, and delivers on the match end. He can even lose to Christian say in June or July depending on what the promotion has in store. Even a Sting vs Samoa Joe down the line is very intriguing and leads to the passing of the torch not from a face-to-face structure perspective but a face-to-heel perspective. Good luck Joe!
