wrestling-wise not a great edition. but storyline-wise this was pretty cool. lots of angles to start the build towards Lockdown 2006. first, introducing Samoa Joe to Sabu. then re-establishing Scott Steiner as a badass. also, providing Sting some time to explain his actions (something not many people do when going through long storylines). followed by the cage match at the end between Team 3d and team Canada with the old school beat down with the other faces trying to make a save. and finally the beginning of the weird stalker angle of James Mitchell and Christian's wife en route to Abyss taking on Christian. first, in watching the stalker angle, i thought James Mitchell should take note from Grimmer Wyrmtongue in The Two Towers on how to present a creepy yet compelling version of himself. I swear the character matches, including Mitchell's rhetoric and tone of voice. love the old school beatdown with Team Canada getting their heat back after losing to Team 3D. all the X-Division faces trying to make the save is reminiscent of when Dusty Rhodes and Magnum TA were getting their asses handed to them by the 4 Horsemen and guys like the R & R express would try to make a save. Eric Young taking a beating has been fun. He's the bump machine and just seems so likeable. I can imagine him one day going face to a massive pop. But he's the perfect old school, clown type of heel. He takes all the punishment to make the faces look good and then antogonizes the crowd. but it seems like he's growing on many people so it'll be interesting to see where they'll take him in the future. he'd also play a very good Ricky Morton type. wonder if the other guy from the Naturals is going to get a revenge type of match against Scott Steiner. you could have the guy put in a few offensive, high flying moves before taking a few nasty suplexes and then submitting. it would be a good way to give Scott Steiner his debut match in TNA without completely squashing the guy. also, i'm wondering if Sabin, Lethal and Sonjay would get a return bout either teaming with team 3D or going against AMW or Team Canada on tonight's tapings. whelp, only a few more hours before getting the results ;)
