is it me or are californians dumb enough to not realize that just by sticking some random asian in a place that supposedly makes japanese food, rolls up fish and rice and expect it to be called sushi? i've been to two awful "sushi" spots in west hollywood and the first thing i noticed is that both are run by koreans. not to bash koreans, but i don't want to pay some overpriced dish just because you have some crappy atmosphere expecting to simulate the japanese environment. after eating in tsukiji and midori sushi in shibuya on numerous occasions, it's hard to cut my standards short, especially when it comes to something that i consider to reside on a higher level of taste. i've had the best sushi and can compare when you get some 4th rate pile of junk. i should just stick with my plan and not eat sushi while i'm in california; it's quite awful out here.
