saw an article about he's been taking the metro to lead by example in terms of encouraging more people to avoid taking their cars. his big priority is on reducing the number of cars on the road....something i definitely agree with. he recognizes the horrible problems about LA's traffic, possibly the worst in the nation which also cause problems like accidents and immense pollution. one of the bullet points in the article referenced Hollywood's inflated ego with their criticism of the subway system running into "their" terroritory. namely that some celebrities walk of fame stars were cracked (poor babies!). but sarcasm aside, there's a real need for us to bypass these elite few who service no one except themselves and move towards a good public transportation system. it'd take a lot of money to start that type of project but it's absolutely necessary at the rate of gas price hikes and the general cost of living. i still say that businesses should offer tax breaks for subsidizing (or themselves being subsidized) for having their workers use public transportation. the money from the increase in public transportation should go back into the system and be used to enhance and grow what exist so the entire city has more routes. right now, it's ridiculous to get around with so many cars on the road. i, myself, enjoy driving but not to work in the current situation. but if we had a subway like tokyo it'd be great since a lot of stress would be relieved on us.
