Path of Exile: Flashback + Heist, Day 3

So far I’ve been quite engaged in the current Flashback league. I managed to end up in Act 10 and did a few Heists just to continue the questing and leveling process for my followers. The leveling process has been fun compared to the normal Heist league and already I made my first Exalt today.

Having each area juiced up with three big mods really has made the leveling process far more enjoyable. The first few levels were quite sketchy as I hit a few mods that were fairly terrible. However, the good thing about having those additional mods is that you get far more loot.

Thus far, my idea for using a very minion intensive Guardian build has paid off in dividends. It’s handled all the content thus far and uses a very bizarre setup. The main three pieces featured in my build at the moment are a Tabula Rasa, Skullhead and Clayshaper.

The Skullhead is a decent leveling helmet for minions in adding a small degree of tankiness along with regeneration to them. Not to mention it has some decent resistances and a bit of life. Now, the Clayshaper might seem odd since most Dominating Blow/Herald of Purity builds end up moving towards The Scourge. As of now, there aren’t any Scourges available for trade, so I’m substituting that weapon the Clayshaper.

The idea here was that the Clayshaper allows me to use a Stone Golem in my build on top of a Carrion Golem. It’s basically a simple way I can get the equivalent of a no mana reservation version of a Vitality gem into my build without sacrificing a gem slot that I cannot afford.

My build is really un-optimized but it works well. I have 6 zombies that do decent damage and help provide 100% uptime on my ascendancy’s Onslaught. Also, with two specters (a Chieftain Host and Carnage Host), I carry frenzy and power charges. I employ an Animate Guardian that uses what I consider a basic Animate Guardian stack. Also, I have a Holy Relic for even more life regeneration.

The main issue with this build is potential squishiness. At the moment, I’m barely above 3k life and that’s mostly due to bad gear. I’m trying to work on ways to increase armor, physical damage mitigation and blocking but my wiggle room is limited.

What I’m waiting for is the price of 6L chests to come down in price. I have a feeling that not as many people are playing the Flashback league compared to the normal Heist league. So I don’t know how hard gear will be to come by. On a personal note, I’ve found a few decent pieces on my own just leveling. And with all the mods, I can only imagine that in the coming week, there should be a great deal more gear available.

The real battle is time. The league only last 3 weeks so I can’t imagine how easy or hard it will be to see aura stacking gear coming into play. While I do find more league currency like breach fragments, legion fragments, oils and Perandus coins, the total amount is still pretty low.

On the bright side, I did manage to find just enough leveling gear for another character if I start hitting a wall. The only character I would want to make though is some form of an aura stacker like a Necromancer Carrion Golem summoner. However, I really would prefer seeing some of the gear for that build to drop on its own. Today, I did find a Chayula amulet base from Perandus but I could not afford it.

I did get the chance to buy a Goldrim helmet though from Perandus. So that along with a 2nd Tabula Rasa, Wanderlust, etc., I have just enough gear for twinking out another character. Again before.I start something like that, I really just need to finish up this character and get him into maps.

I think if I found a full set of leveling gear, I would be motivated to try something else once my Guardian begins to hit a wall. Again, the only real thing I would want to level is a Necromancer. But the other gear for that build just is hard to impossible to get at the moment.
