Diablo 3: Hitting 60 on My Witch Doctor and Gearing for Inferno

My witch doctor is the latest to achieve level 60 and make it into Inferno mode. Actually, I had hit 60 in Hell mode (which you can do easily). I took a look at my stash and quickly decided that it was far better just to buy all new gear and vender any left overs.

Having roughly 27 million gold, I had a fairly large budget. But I didn’t want to spend all 27 million on a single item. So what I ended up doing was setting around a 2 million gold limit per slot. Having 13 slots to fill, that could easily expand my entire budget. However, that doesn’t necessarily imply I would buy everything at 2 million. But it was used as part of my search criteria.

As you can see from my character’s gear, my witch doctor, Alorhiak, is sitting nicely at around 90k dps (actually a little over 70k unbuffed) with 20k health and a fair amount of resistance and limited life on hit. For the most part, I’m using the Zunimassa set along with some Tal Rasha, Echoing Fury and Thing of the Deep with your typical Lacunis for the bracers slot and Vile Ward for shoulders. My build/talents are based on one of top DPS witch doctors.

Thus far, I’ve managed to slaughter Act 1 without any monster power. I haven’t moved forward with Inferno in Act 2 but have already hit Paragon level 2. My intention with my witch doctor is an auxiliary toon. That means, depending on who’s playing at the time, I can whip him out to compliment a party.

Game play-wise, I like the build a lot. My main criticism is that he does have enough defensive cooldowns as compared to say a demon hunter. The gear is far from perfect but I’m certain it can handle up to MP2 without too many issues. If I continue to play this character, I would probably try and get him a few more paragon levels and focus on upgrading individual items at a time. Unfortunately, the better gear easily exceeds 100 million a piece on average so I’d have to get lucky on some loot drops before being able to find something better. I think for now though, this build and gear is quite adequate.
